Part 1

Write a comprehensive report that covers the following:

Regulations Governing the Use of Products and Equipment

  • Identify and explain relevant UK regulations for both cosmetic and medical-grade products (e.g., MHRA, UK Cosmetics Regulation).
  • Outline requirements for safe use, maintenance, and traceability of equipment (e.g., CE/UKCA marking, manufacturer protocols).
  • Discuss consequences of using unregulated or off-label products/devices in practice.

Health and Safety Requirements in the Workplace

  • Describe the legal responsibilities of both employers and employees under health and safety law (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, RIDDOR, COSHH).
  • Explain the role of workplace policies and procedures in promoting safety (e.g., risk assessments, safe systems of work, emergency planning).

Infection Control and Pathogen-Related Complications

  • Define different types of pathogens (e.g., bacteria, viruses, fungi) and routes of transmission in a treatment setting.
  • Describe the potential complications of poor infection control (e.g., cross-contamination, delayed healing, bloodborne infections).
  • Outline infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, equipment sterilisation, environmental cleaning, and safe waste disposal.

Legal and Ethical Considerations in Aesthetic Practice

  • Explain relevant legislation such as the Data Protection Act 2018 (UK GDPR), Consumer Rights Act 2015, and Equality Act 2010.
  • Describe the principles of informed consent and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Discuss ethical considerations in client care including confidentiality, respect for autonomy, and duty of care.
  • Highlight the consequences of unethical or illegal behaviour in practice (e.g., reputational damage, loss of insurance or licensing, client harm)

Part 2 – Risk Assessment

This section of our report should include:

  • The purpose and importance of risk assessments in health, beauty, and aesthetic environments.
  • The five steps commonly used in workplace risk assessment.
  • Examples of typical risks in aesthetic practice.
  • Who is responsible for risk assessments and how findings should be communicated and followed up
