CPD leading to Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Polynucleotide Therapy

A CPD-Accredited Clinical Training Programme

Course Overview & CPD Metadata

This postgraduate clinical training course is designed to equip medical aesthetic practitioners with the advanced theoretical knowledge and clinical competencies required to integrate regenerative polynucleotide biostimulation therapies into their clinical practice.

As modern aesthetic medicine shifts from static dermal volume correction toward physiological skin quality restoration and cellular regeneration, polynucleotides represent a core clinical modality. This course covers the molecular pharmacology of polynucleotides, the foundational biology of the dermal extracellular matrix, and precise clinical injection protocols.

Programme Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this specialist course, clinical practitioners will be able to:

1. Evaluate the biology of the dermal extracellular matrix (ECM), including the role of dermal fibroblasts, collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans in maintaining cutaneous turgor and resilience.

2. Analyse the cellular and molecular mechanisms of intrinsic and extrinsic cutaneous aging, focusing on fibroblast metabolic decline, mechanical collapse, and the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP).

3. Describe the chemical composition and structure of polynucleotides (PNT), including the monomeric structure of deoxyribonucleotides and their polymerization via

phosphodiester bonds.

4. Explain the molecular mechanisms of action of polynucleotides, specifically the catabolic pathway, the Salvage Pathway of nucleotide synthesis, and the activation of cell-surface adenosine A2A receptors.

5. Differentiate the biological effects of polynucleotide therapy, including fibroblast bio stimulation, neovascularisation (angiogenesis), and the inhibition of melanogenesis.

6. Formulate clinical skin priming strategies utilizing polynucleotides to optimize outcomes and reduce recovery times for synergistic combination therapies (e.g., energy-based devices, microneedling, dermal fillers).

7. Implement evidence-based, precise injection protocols for the face, periorbital region, neck, décolleté, scalp, and body, selecting appropriate formulations, needle gauges, and delivery techniques (microdroplet, linear retrograde, cannula).

8. Diagnose and manage post-treatment adverse events and counsel patients on evidence-based aftercare protocols.

CPD Assessment & Reflection Note

Summative Assessment: Formal knowledge assessment is conducted via the Post-course Needs and Theory (PNT) MCQ Examination at the end of the full programme. This end-of-course assessment comprehensively covers all module content and satisfies the CPD accreditation requirement for a verified testing component (T = Tested criterion). No per-lesson quiz is required.

Reflective Practice: Reflective practice is a core requirement of Continuing Professional Development. Upon completing this course, practitioners are encouraged to complete the structured reflection section at the end of this document for inclusion in their CPD portfolio.
